Chapter VII

Veeonce had told me to head out, and text her when I was close. I must’ve looked funny leaving my apartment with a Witty’s Pizza uniform and pizza box. Like I was baking pizzas straight from my home, and delivering them personally. “When did you start working for Witty’s Pizza?” A girl from the neighborhood asked. “I just got hired yesterday,” I lied smoothly. The pizza box was half empty, as I didn’t want to waste perfectly good pizza bringing a full box, but didn’t want to bring a completely empty box either. The gun was tucked in my waist, and I tightly fastened my belt to secure it. I decided it was best to take a cab to my destination, and flagged down the nearest one.

I had it all mapped out. Veeonce had texted me the address earlier, and I did some quick research online. I looked up the location on Google Maps, and found some nearby places I could take the cab too. So when the cab driver asked where was I headed, I gave him the address to some supermarket. The supermarket was a five minute walk from the detective’s house. I texted Veeonce, that I was in the cab and would be there soon.

The whole cab ride I peered out the window and daydreamed. I was really going forward with this. Was this what my life had come to? I haven’t even used my Sexigami Eyes, since Veeonce told me what she did, and didn’t plan too. The way I looked at it…none of these bitches was worth dying faster for. I wondered how much time Veeonce had left. I recalled her saying meeting a few others like us, but I wasn’t sure if she did anything with them. Knowing her, she wouldn’t have passed up that chance. My thoughts were interrupted by my phone’s sudden disruptive ringtone. It was Veeonce.

“Hello” I asked.

“Hi, Can I have a Large Peperoni Pie? She said in a voice that sounded like she was legitimately making an order. I was caught off guard.

“Umm…Yes.” I stammered.

“Also, I want you guys to deliver it.”

“No problem mam, address?

“My address is 944 Coral Street.”

“Okay, pizza will be ready soon.”

“Okay, Thanks.” It was game time. My adrenaline was pumping, and legs began to shake uncontrollably.

When we reached our destination, I tipped the driver, and slid out the vehicle. Despite the sun being down, the streets were moderately crowded with people entering and leaving the supermarket. The weather wasn’t too bad, but had an occasional gust of wind. I wasn’t quite sure which way I was supposed to head. Walking to the corner of the intersection, I glimpsed at the street signs to confirm my location. Realizing I was heading in the wrong direction, I quickly made a U-turn, and slowly walked to opposite end of block. It was too early to head to the detective’s house so stood around for a bit. After a while it felt like people were watching me. Considering how I was standing around looking like a lost delivery man, they probably were.
